Watch Mr Eazi, Shakka & Seyi Shay In The Video For Da BeatFreakz’s ‘Take Over’
Two weeks ago, UK-based Nigerian production duo, Da BeatFreakz teamed up with Mr Eazi, Shakka and Seyi Shay for their solid new track, “Take Over”. Now they’ve dropped a video that should (hopefully) make the track the hit it totally deserves to be.
On the afropop song, the three artists sing about giving up control in the bedroom. While Shakka, the MOBO-winning singer, uses subtle references to get the theme across (“you can be the president/I will be your country”), Seyi Shay and Mr Eazi are a lot more on the nose.
Shakka’s smooth vocals and witty lyrics make him the song’s most memorable performer, followed by Seyi Shay. While Mr Eazi is also solid, it’s surprising he didn’t run away with the track — like he did on Shehkninah’s “Remix” — especially since the beat felt the most suited to his musical sensibilities.
The fun music video splits the three artists into vastly different locations. Shakka performs for a party while Da BeatFreakz vibe out; Mr Eazi flirts with a beautiful girl at a vinyl record store; and Seyi Shay turns up with a bunch of women and girls at a hair salon.
