Chieftaincy Title: You Can Now Call Skepta – Chief Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr, Amuludun of Odo Aje!

Skepta definitely wears his love for Nigeria on his sleeve. The UK rapper has been in and out of the country for the past few years, in a bid to bring ‘the culture’ home. His most recent trip back found him headlining BBK’s excellent Homecoming event, and he capped it all off with a Chieftaincy title.

During his visits here, the rapper hasn’t only focused on helping grow the entertainment industry, he has also done his part to give back to his society, starting with his hometown in Ogun State.

When he came two years ago, Skepta built a playground and a few schools in his local community of Odo-Aje, Ijebu-Ode. His efforts are clearly appreciated amongst his people, as he has now been ordained as the “Amuludun of Odo-Aje”, chief of entertainment in his local village.

Announcing this on Instagram, Skepta said:

“Thank you to the Baale, Chiefs of Odo Aje and King for presenting me with my chieftaincy title today.

I am honoured and will continue to put time and love into Nigeria, especially the community of Odo Aje.”

This is fitting, as he is an entertainer by profession and if we’re going by what we know, local villages could do with some work in that area.

Chieftaincy titles are usually given as a sign of recognition of a person’s positive contributions to the society, and we can all agree that Skepta deserves this. We look forward to him doing more things for the culture, and we’re interested in seeing what he does with his chieftaincy title.

We do have to state that we’re still a bit confused about why he was wearing traditional Igbo clothes in a Yoruba village, but we’ll allow it. Anyway, it’s time for Skepta to reintroduce himself. His name is… Chief Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr, Amuludun of Odo Aje!
