Olamide Says No To Drugs In The Trippy Video For ‘Science Student’

Olamide had a really strong start to 2018. Unlike last year — where he dropped a bunch of singles before finally scoring a hit with “Wo!” — he knocked it out of the park on his first go with the stellar “Science Student”.

Since then, he’s dropped two more tracks — the Skepta-assisted “Sheevita Juice”and the trap freestyle, “Omo Ologo” — but none of them even come close to the infectious magic of “Science Student”. Now, he has finally dropped the track’s highly-anticipated music video.

While the Young Jonn and BBanks-produced track has a lot of fans, it also has its detractors — with many saying the song blatantly promotes drug abuse. It even reportedly led to the NBC declaring it unfit for broadcast. Olamide denies the allegations, of course, saying the song is against drug abuse.

Speaking out on his Instagram, Olamide said:

“I want you all to take some time to reflect on the subject, say no to drug abuse. Don’t abuse alcohol.

Stop mixing what you don’t know about. Live responsibly and drink responsibly. Don’t aspire the ‘highness state’ but a state of purpose fulfillment and passion discovery.”

Before the video’s release, Olamide said it would shed more light on his stance on drug abuse, and it kind of does. The Unlimited LA-directed clip shows Olamide wandering into a sort of druggy house of horrors, but refusing to take the unknown substance he’s offered.
