Maleek Berry Drops Hypnotic Video For Love Song, ‘Pon My Mind’

A couple months prior to dropping his second stellar EP, First Daze Of Winter, the talented producer-turned-artist Maleek Berry gave us a little taste of what to expect from the body of work with the brilliant single, “Pon My Mind”.

Now, he has dropped a music video for the track that, just like all the videos he’s dropped in the past year, is absolutely stunning.

Produced by Maleek himself, “Pon My Mind” is a mid-tempo love song that proudly wears its mushiness on its sleeve. On the track, he sings about a girl he can’t seem to get off his mind. “I’ve been thinking about you all night long/In the morning when I wake up you dey my mind”, he sings on the hook.

Speaking with BBC 1Xtra about the song, Maleek said:

“It’s about being in a situation, admitting your wrongs and just blatantly saying ‘you’ve been on my mind, I want you back’.

It’s something everyone can relate to, something I’ve been through. So, it was easy to write because it was real.”

The colourful music video, which was directed by frequent collaborator Meji Alabi, is hypnotic. While the video doesn’t have a narrative that’s as gripping as what we got on “Let Me Know” and “Lost In The World”, it’s still an absolute stunner to behold.
