Watch The Trailer For Nigerian Music Documentary, ‘For Those Who Listen’

Three months ago, we raved about 19-year-old artist, photographer and filmmaker, Wami Aluko, who decided to explore the exciting new wave in the Nigerian music industry, with her documentary titled For Those Who Listen.

Starting off with a stunning photo series that introduced us to all the artists featured in the documentary — Mr Eazi, Odunsi The Engine, Idris King, Lady Donli and DJ Femo — the trailer is finally here, and it looks pretty great.

With For Those Who Listen, Wami plans to explore the impact of music on the Nigerian youth, and the diversity within the Nigerian music industry — it would be particularly great for people to learn we have more to offer than afropop and afrobeat.

Speaking with us about what inspired the documentary, Wami said:

“Music has always been important to me as a creative, from the long hours spent choosing the perfect song to go with my fashion film to the long list of playlists I’ve made to fit my every mood.

I was inspired to bring to light the impact and power of music amongst the Nigerian youth, the innovation in our music, and how its effect trickles down.”

No official release date for the documentary has been announced just yet, but we will be waiting patiently. Till then, you can check out the accompanying photo series on her website. You can also see more of Wami’s impressive work on her Instagram.
