More than ever, in 2017, the Nigerian entertainment industry fully opened its arms to web series.

Their commercial viability and appeal finally shone and many have hopped aboard the bandwagon. Suffice to say, web series are now a thing.

These are the Nigerian web series we enjoyed in 2017.

Gidi Up

Gidi Up follows the lives of four Lagos-based friends who are building their careers while juggling romantic relationships.

The first season of the series was an eight-part web miniseries, with about eight minutes per episode. The second season was however converted into a full 30-minute episode television and web series.

Skinny Girl in Transit

Skinny Girl In Transit follows the life of plus-size radio personality, Tiwa, as she struggles with the pressures of wanting to be in a relationship and to be successful. The web series is currently in its fourth season.

Oga Titus

Officer Titus is a web series about the day to day life of a road safety officer in Lagos. It is currently in its third season.

Lagos Big Boy

Lagos Big Boy centers around four young men aspiring to achieve success in Lagos. To actualise their dreams of being a Lagos Big Boy, they get involved in all forms of nefarious activities just to make it to the top.

Dele Issues

Dele Issues is a comedic web series which has comic-actor Samuel Ajibola has the main character. The series which started in 2017 has quickly gained acceptance by Nigerians on YouTube.

Professor Johnbull

Built around an academic, Johnbull Eriweagwuagwu Macathy Macnwigwe a.k.a Professor Johnbull, the satirical series spotlights the ills of the society — which often threaten the values and principles of the professor. It is in its fifth season.

This Is It

This Is It is about the post-marriage experience of a young couple; how they deal with the first year of being husband and wife, among other issues. It is currently in its second season.
