Ade Hassan Receives MBE Award From Queen Elizabeth For Her Contribution To Fashion Industry

Ade Hassan, the founder and director of Nubian Skin has been awarded an MBE for her services to fashion. Nubian Skin is a lingerie and hosiery brand specializing in nude undergarments for women of colour.

The list recognises the achievements and contributions of amazing people across various industries in the UK, so Ade’s commitment to redefine nude and her impact on the fashion industry earned her the award.

Upset by the lack of variety in nude lingerie and hosiery, she decided to create Nubian Skin in 2013 and in late 2014, she launched the brand, which gained a lot of support from women all over the world.

Nubian Skin is stocked in leading department stores and boutiques in nine countries over four continents, with online sales allowing the brand to reach more women than ever.

On the honour, Ade, through her blog, said,

“I really am so humbled and incredibly grateful to be receiving this.  It’s not something I could ever have imagined. As the owner of a small, independent brand it is an incredible validation of my goal of ‘Empowering Women. Embracing our Colour’ to receive this Honour.  I feel so fortunate and am very grateful for all the people who have supported my vision and Nubian Skin and made it what is today.”
