Serbia contact with NFF over friendly game with Super Eagles

The president of Serbia-Nigeria Chamber of Commerce, Dr Temi Gold, says contact has been made with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over a friendly game against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Serbia are through to the World Cup next year in Russia just like Nigeria, and ‎they view the Super Eagles as a credible opponent to test their readiness for the World Cup after their impressive performance in the qualifying series.

“I can assure you that we are in contact with the NFF President, Mr Amaju‎ Melvin Pinnick, he has assured us that we can work together. We are also talking to the Technical Committee Chairman, Barrister Chris Green, and we are getting closer”, Gold said.

President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick confirmed Gold’s statement and confirmed Nigeria’s willingness to engage Serbia in the pre World Cup friendly, which will be the first meeting between both nations since they last met in a pre world cup friendly in 1998 won by Serbia 3-0.

“We are open to the idea of playing against Serbia as all doors for friendly games are presently open in our bid to prepare well for the World Cup, if it clicks, including the game against Serbia, we will open up. It’s really a work in progress for us at the NFF”, Pinnick said.
