Azubuike Okechukwu back in training after 4-week injury layoff

Nigeria U23 star Azubuike Okechukwu has resumed training with Turkish club Yeni Malatyaspor after he was sidelined by hamstring injury.

He could now be back in action on November 5, when his club host Basaksehir Istanbul in the league.

Okechukwu, 20, injured his hamstring during a 1-1 draw with Konyaspor before the last international break.

“This is my first major injury in two and half years, I am refreshed and happy to resume training,” the gifted midfielder said.

The one-time Nigeria U23 skipper was the only Nigeria star retained by promoted by Yeni Malatyaspor after Sunday Mba and Austin Amutu were discarded by the Turkish club this season.
