All The Artistes Of Nigerian Descent Nominated At The 2017 MOBO Awards
Yesterday, we celebrated Maleek Berry and Skepta landing nominations for ‘Best Male Act’ at the 2017 MOBO Awards – the 21-year-old award show which recognises artistes of any ethnicity or nationality, who perform black music.

At the point of us geeking out, all the nominations hadn’t been announced but now that the list is complete, let’s highlight and celebrate the other brilliant artistes of Nigerian descent who were nominated – some even appearing in more than one category.
Multiple nominees
Maleek Berry and Skepta weren’t only nominated in the ‘Best Male Act’ category, both superstars also managed to land nominations in the ‘Best African Act’ and ‘Best Grime Act’ categories respectively.

The real – and only – Starboy, Wizkid also walked away with two nominations, appearing in the ‘Best International Act’ and ‘Best African Act’ categories.

The women of Nigerian descent weren’t left behind with Rita Ekwere (aka Ray BLK) and Simbi Ajikawo (aka Little Simz) both landing spots in the ‘Best Female Act’ category, as well as the ‘Best R&B/Soul Act’ and ‘Best Hip-Hop Act’ categories respectively.
Single Nominees
The other nominees of Nigerian descent can be found slugging it out in the ‘Best African Act category’, with Nigerians taking 7 of the 10 spots.

Joining Maleek Berry and Wizkid on that list, we have Davido, Mr Eazi, Tekno, Tiwa Savage and Wande Coal. The other spots go to Ghanaian superstars – and honorary Nigerians – Eugy, Sarkodie and Juls.
The winners will be announced during the show on November 29. You can check out the full list of nominees right here.
