WCQ: Super Eagles play down Elderson Elderson’s training ground knock

Super Eagles officials have said there is no cause for alarm after Turkey-based leftback Elderson Echiejile suffered a knock on his ankle in yesterday’s training.

“Elderson hurt his ankle in training and did not complete the training, but it is not serious. He is fit for the next training,” said Eagles spokesman Toyin Ibitoye.

Chelsea loanee Ola Aina, who is yet to make his debut for the Eagles, will be last-minute replacement should Elderson not be fit for Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Uyo.

The Eagles will train this evening inside the mainbowl of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium after they worked out at the practice pitch yesterday.

The team will have a press conference tomorrow morning.
