Listen To Tiwa Savage’s Impressive New EP ‘Sugarcane’ – Featuring Wizkid

Tiwa Savage has been hard at work for most of 2017. Even after she released her hit song “All Over”, you could still find her inimitable voice sprinkled on a ton of other tracks – from Awilo Longomba’s “Esposi Yo” to DJ Big N’s “Anything (For You)”.

As if that wasn’t enough, she just dropped her EP, Sugarcane, and we think it might just be the most cohesive body of work she has ever put out; it definitely benefits from having only six tracks (five brand new ones, along with “All Over”).

The new EP, Sugarcane. It’s dripping with love tunes that are honeyed with Tiwa’s dulcet vocals. Over six tracks, she sings in breezy harmonies and riffs while alternating between English and Yoruba.

Alongside the project’s undeniable solo cuts, it also features Afropop stars like Wizkid and Maleek Berry.With contributions from producers such as Spellz, Maleek Berry and Babyfresh, the sugary afropop project is filled to the brim with distinct love songs you’ll be vibing to for the rest of the year – especially the opening track “Sugarcane” and the closing number featuring Wizkid, “Ma Lo”.

Speaking with The Fader about the surprise project, Tiwa said:

“I actually never planned to release anything before my official album drops next year so this is a surprise for my fans.

I have been in such a great space in the studio and I’ve been creating so much music so it felt right to put out this project.”

About the EP’s name, Tiwa continued:

“The title is ‘Sugarcane’ because the music sounded different and sweet to me. With afrobeat music, I can’t explain it in words you just have to listen and experience the magic.”
