Chioma Ukonu Is Representing Nigeria At The Chivas Venture Finals
Six months ago, everyone raved about Chioma Ukonu‘s innovative startup aimed at improving Nigeria’s attitude towards recycling, RecyclePoints.
RecyclePoints operates an incentive-based scheme which collects recyclable waste materials from consumers and rewards them with ‘points’ which they can accumulate and use to redeem household items, through the startup’s iRecycle store.
A few months ago, the startup emerged as the winner of the ₦1 million grand prize at the regional final of the Chivas Regal annual competition.
Chioma was then sent to Los Angeles to represent Nigeria at The Chivas Venture against 32 other global finalists, where her startup just emerged as one of the top 5 finalists.
The Chivas Venture is an annual competition that sees entrepreneurs compete for a share of $1million in funding for their world-changing startups. The semi-finalists had one chance to impress four judges on July 13.
