Dele Alli Is The Second Most Valuable Footballer In The World

When it comes to arguments about top footballers in the world today, the names we often hear are Messi and Ronaldo. But a new study by International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) has shown that Messi is fourth on the list of most valuable players in the world, and Ronaldo is nowhere in the top ten. In fact, England footballer of Nigerian descent, Dele Alli, is second on the list – and we’re having a whale of a time with the news.

As shown in the CIES rankings – which they work out by analyzing nearly 2000 fee paying transfers while also noting the players’ performances, employer clubs, international status, contract, age, and positions – Alli is valued at €155.1 million.

The only player ahead of him on the list is Neymar whose value is €210.7 million. Messi is valued at €151.7 million while Ronaldo who is number 11 and the oldest player on the list is valued at €112 million.

21-year-old Alli who plays for Tottenham and the England national team was born to a Nigerian father and an English mother. Before he was called up to the England senior team in 2015, he played in the under-17 and under-18 teams. He won the Football League Young Player of the Year award for 2014/2015 season, and his amazing performances so far have made football commentators compare him to Zidane and Ronaldo.

OneMK reported that, in 2015, John Fashanu tried to convince him to play for Nigeria, but that never happened. If you’re wondering what is keeping this amazing footballer from playing for Nigeria, well, you only have to look at the mess that is the Super Eagles and shake your head.
