Nigerian Footballer, Rabiu Ibrahim Strikes The Biggest Transfer Deal In Slovakia

In 2007, Rabiu Ibrahim scored the first goal in the first match between Nigeria and France at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in South Korea,  giving the Golden Eaglets the much-needed morale that led them to win the competition.

After struggling for 9 years in his career, playing for small clubs overseas, this talented footballer has hit it big. He has struck a deal worth €1 million with the Slovakian football club, Slovan Bratislava!

Yes, it may not be a popular club, but you can’t deny that for a player of his status, this is big dough. What’s more? With this figure, he has become the most expensive incoming transfer ever in Slovakia and has surely put himself out there for the attention of the richer clubs in Europe.

According to the announcement on the club’s website, the four-year contract will see 26-year-old Ibrahim bring his experience and skill to significantly strengthen the central formation of the team.

Ibrahim who has been referred to as “the new Jay-Jay Okocha” plans on having a successful career in the new club. Complete Sports reports that he was quoted as saying:

“I am very happy with the transfer to Slovan. After last season, I had different options, but clearly, I decided to join Slovan. We’ve been communicating since January and I felt that the club really wants me.

First, I have to work hard for the team and fight for a place in the starting line-up. I have the highest ambitions – winning matches and trophies.”

We’ll be looking forward to seeing Ibrahim in action as Slovan Bratislava plays in next season’s UEFA Europa League.
