More Nigerian Music Producers Are Releasing Albums
The title ‘Music producer’ means different things to different people. To be straightforward, a producer is a project manager for the recording, mixing and mastering of a song. They have an overall vision for the music, and the goal of the project. Every producer has a unique perspective and a different approach. Apart from handling the recording and mixing, producers inspire and assist the musicians they work with. When a producer makes a track, they decide which artiste they want to feature on it and this is often what makes or breaks it.

Like DJ Khaled, rather than just making beats and trademarking it at the beginning of the song, music producers are now taking the spotlight and making their albums. It only makes sense to capitalize on their intellectual property and brand.
Here are some music producers with albums you should know about:
DJ Jimmy Jatt
DJ Jimmy Jatt is revered as one of the pioneering hip-hop DJs in Nigeria. He is best known for his Jimmy’s Jump Off concert, an event he started in 2008 which later became one of the most attended entertainment events in Nigeria. Jimmy Jatt is arguably one of the biggest music producers in Nigeria. In 2007, he released his first album, The Definition 2007 and in 2011, released his sophomore album, The Industry Vol 1.

DJ Xclusive
DJ Xclusive’s career began over a decade ago. Within that time, he’s worked with Olamide, Burna Boy and Ajebutter22 to mention a few. His debut album, According to X which was released in 2015 featured Phyno, Tiwa Savage, Davido, and a lot more artistes.

DJ Spinall
Spinall is a multiple award-winning DJ who has worked with M.I, Burna Boy, and Davido to name a few. In 2015, he released his debut LP, My Story: The Album and his sophomore album, Ten, in 2016.

Juls
Juls is a British-Ghanaian producer and DJ. His background stems from life in East London and Accra, Ghana where he sites most of his influences in his music. Juls is an in-house producer for BBnZ Live and has produced songs for several African artists including Sarkodie, E.L, Stonebwoy, Mr. Eazi and many more. He is more popular with his production portfolio for Nigerian artist, Mr Eazi; producing tracks like “Skin Tight” and “Hollup”. This year, he released his first album, Leap of Faith.

Masterkraft
Matserkraft has always been around but only started to gain fame in recent years. A lot of impressive afrobeat songs, such as Tekno’s “Yawa”, were produced by him. Earlier this week, he announced his upcoming album, Unlimited. The album will feature Flavour, Davido, Olamide, Sarkodie, MiCasa, and a lot more artistes.
