Book tours are not a new concept in Nigeria but they don’t happen as often as they should. Most of the time, when an author publishes a new book, the publishers handle the PR while the author only does a couple of book signings and a reading.
The books Okey Ndibe will be touring with are; Never Look An American In The Eye and Foreign Gods. Never Look An American In The Eye is a memoir about of Okey’s move from Nigeria to America and Foreign Gods tells the story of Ike, a New York-based Nigerian cab driver who sets out to steal the statue of an ancient war deity from his home village and sell it to a New York gallery.
The tour will span six states and you can peep the itinerary below:
The tour will begin at Patabah Books (Surulere) on July 9 at 2PM. The next location is the University of Lagos (Yaba) on July 13 at 11AM. Followed by Goethe Institut (Lagos Island) on July 15 at 2PM and closing with Quintessence (Ikoyi) on July 29 at 2PM.
In Abuja, it’ll happen at the Abuja Literary Society Sandralia Hotel. Jabi on July 28 at 7PM,
In Enugu, the tour will take place at the University of Nigeria (Nsukka) on July 21 at 5PM.
In Port Harcourt, the tour stop will be the University of Port Harcourt on July 18 at 10AM.
The locations for Awka Ibom and Ibadan are yet to be announced but more information will be shared on Bookcraft’s Twitter.
