More and more Nigerians are using ridesharing platform, GoMyWay

Nigeria’s trusted online ride share platform, GoMyWay has announced more and more Nigerians across the country are using the platform, indicating the innovation is being embraced.

The startup disclosed, as it celebrates its second year in existence, it experienced a 150% increase in registered members and a 300% increase in the number of seats offered in the last year.

Furthermore, the startup stated the number of states in the country where its service has been used has increased from 5 in its first year to 16 this second year.

The startup stated average seat occupancy has also increased from about 1.8 people in its first year to 2.8 people per ride this second year. This, the start said, indicates that car owners on the platform are being connected to more passengers than before.

“Looking back, it is interesting to see how much we have grown. We have seen an increasing acceptance of this concept of ridesharing by Nigerians and are more than glad to be at the forefront,” said Damilola Teidi, GoMyWay’s CEO.

In celebration of its second year in existence, the startup launched an initiative aimed at creating public awareness for the ridesharing concept and to encourage more people to embrace it.

The initiative, called Rideshare Week Campaign (#RideShareWeekNG), ran for a week – June 5 – 10, 2017 – and saw people win cool prices. The event will take place annually.

“The goal is that the Rideshare week will become bigger every year, and ultimately, many more Nigerians will get involved in the ridesharing culture,” Damilola concluded.
