Chukwudalu Egbejiogu Is The 16-Year-Old Basketballer About To Take Over The Game

May Madness, a tournament organized by Continental Basketball League (CBL) Africa, is well underway in Lagos. The competition which will also take place in Abidjan, Yaounde, and Libreville, is gradually achieving its aim of revealing new talent in basketball. One of them is Chukwudalu Egbejiogu who, at 16, is the youngest basketballer in the tournament.

Egbejiogu, who was once turned down by a coach, started playing in street games where he gathered experience and sharpened his basketball skill. He got a chance to try out for the Lagos City Stars and was eventually called up to play for the team.

He impressed so much in his first match against Abidjan Raiders that reporters crowded around him at the end of the match. Although his team lost the match, this big moment made Egbejiogu a notable player.

He is currently ranked number five among the top 10 players in the tournament – out of the professional basketball players from other African countries and the US.

Egbejiogu grew up in Lagos and was discovered by basketball coach, Charles Ibeziaku, when the two met in Onitsha. While he is waiting for admission into university, he has made it clear that he wants to study Sports Management because he hopes to own a team someday. And we’re rooting for him.
