Davido Finally Explains How He Felt When R.Kelly Remixed His “IF’ Song!!

American R&B legend R. Kelly released a remix of Nigerian Afro-hip-hop star Davido’s latest rave-making hit “If.” The singer, who calls himself “the granddaddy of R&B,” blew up the Internet over the week when he dropped his remix of Davido’s “If,” which is currently topping the music charts in many countries around Africa.

R.Kelly’s remix, which is only about 1 minute long, will likely be remembered as one of the most talked about headlines in the African music scene for 2017, according to MTV Base Africa.

Excited, Davido announced the news of the remix on Instagram Friday, describing it as a triumph for the kind of music made in Africa for Africans:

Well, Davido has finally spoken about it and has expressed how he felt when the R&B Legend did the remix.

According to the Nigerian star him, shocked was an understatement when he saw it. He was absolutely shocked and impressed. The “Ayi” hitmaker said:

“Actually I didn’t know until I was told R.Kelly was on the song and I should check it out. After listening I was like waaaw” he said.

 

Speaking to Antoine Mensah on Livefm ahead of this year’s Ghana Meets Naija, the “Aye” hitmaker said he was shocked to hear the RNB artist do a remix of the song.

“Actually I didn’t know until I was told R.Kelly was on the song and I should check it out. After listening I was like waaaw” he said.

Asked which other artist he thinks will jump on his song, the Nigerian artist said he actually doesn’t have the intention of artist jumping on his songs but will be grateful if Jamaican Dancehall artist Pop-Corn will do it.

Speaking more to Antoine Mensah on Livefm ahead of this year’s Ghana Meets Naija. Davido said one other person he wishes will do another remix is Jamaican Dancehall artist Pop-Corn.
