Listen: Runtown Is Back With His First 2017 Single, ‘For Life’

After dropping one of the biggest songs of 2016, “Mad Over You”, fans have been eagerly awaiting what Runtown would deliver next. Would it live up to the greatness of “Mad Over You”? Was Runtown just jumping on the afropop/highlife bandwagon, most recently popularised by Mr Eazi and Tekno?

Today, we finally have the answers. Runtown just released a new single, “For Life”, produced by KrizBeatz (the guy who gave us “Pana”) that sounds pretty much like it could have been sung by either Tekno or Mr Eazi.

While the track is definitely a grower, it does feel like a bit of let down. Why? Well first, it’s not as great as “Mad Over You” and second, it sounds like so many other songs on the radio; For example, Juls’ “Early” and Davido’s “If”. After listening to a handful of Runtown’s songs, we definitely think he has something special… we’re just not sure what it is yet. That being said, we can’t wait to hear what else he has in store for fans in 2017.
