The Wedding Party, 76 And Three Other Nigerian Movies Will Screen At NollywoodWeek Paris
NollywoodWeek is an annual film festival that showcases the best of the Nigerian film industry.
The film festival which kicked off in 2013 is currently in its fourth year and will afford selected films a larger audience and more sustainable distribution system.
For the 2017 edition of the festival which holds from Thursday the 11th of May to Sunday, 14th of May, here are the five movies selected
1. The Wedding Party
What happens when you throw in an insecure virgin bride, a reformed playboy groom, two overbearing mothers who can’t stand each other, one philandering husband, a high-strung wedding planner, the invasion of unruly village gate-rashers, a thief on the loose, a best man with a flash drive full of secrets, a sexy ex with vengeance on her mind, two loyal bridesmaids ready to go to war, and a brother seeking his father’s approval? It is a hilarious melting pot of potential disaster.
2. 76
A thrilling drama told from two points of view: that of a pregnant woman, and that of an accused soldier, her husband. Inspired by the cataclysmic Nigerian events of 40 years ago, this epic political thriller portrays the point of views of a respected army captain and his expectant wife when his coerced participation in a botched coup attempt makes national headlines.
3. Green White Green
A coming of age film that asks what it means to be Nigerian. Three young artist friends embark on a roller coaster ride of self-discovery after they decide to make a movie before heading off to college.
4. Dinner
Secrets are exposed during a friendly dinner.
5. Gidi Blues
A chance encounter will upset the life of Akin and Nkem. Akin is a somewhat haughty playboy of a wealthy family. Nkem is a beautiful and confident woman who devotes all her energies to the young people of a shantytown. When the two meet by chance, their story will be changed forever.
